Halloween Fabrics for Forgotten Rooms Quilt Along 🎃

Before opening the subscription boxes, I shared a Halloween fabric haul that I picked up during the Memorial Day sale from Hawthorne Supply Co. I grabbed the Ghoul Friends collection by Theresa Kogut for Riley Blake Designs, and I absolutely love the playful Halloween characters, pumpkins, moons, stars, stripes, and polka dots throughout the collection.

I’m planning to use these fabrics in the Forgotten Rooms Quilt Along that starts in August. The quilt along includes blocks from multiple designers along with stories and optional quilt kits, and I think these fabrics will fit the spooky-but-cute aesthetic perfectly.

Next up was my Cherrywood Fabrics subscription box! This month included a beautiful hand-dyed pink fabric along with an unexpected surprise — a set of Aurifil embroidery floss from the Abyss Challenge. The floss collection alone has a significant value, and the colors will work beautifully in future art quilts and embroidery details.

I’m currently using Cherrywood Fabrics in my Nocturnal Nook Quilt Along, and I’m also excited to see what the next Cherrywood Challenge theme will be when it launches on June 10th.

The featured fabric in the May 2026 Sew Sampler box was the Floral Reef collection by Tula Pink for FreeSpirit Fabrics. This 10-inch stacker included 20 vibrant squares filled with ocean-inspired colors, playful sea life, corals, and aquatic prints. The colors in this collection are absolutely stunning in person, with bright aquas, purples, pinks, yellows, and deep blues that feel like a tropical underwater world. Even after recently opening the full Pink Door Fabrics Floral Reef box, I still loved seeing these fabrics again because the color palette is just so vibrant and energetic.

One of my favorite items in this month’s Sew Sampler box was the Quick & Easy All Stars Block Tool book by Debbie Rogers. This quilting reference book includes 110 quilt blocks in multiple sizes along with cutting charts, diagrams, layout inspiration, and helpful quilting techniques. I think this would make an amazing resource for beginner quilters because it walks through so many different block styles and construction methods in a really approachable way. Even experienced quilters could pull endless sampler quilt inspiration from this book.

The Sew Sampler box also included 2.75″ Half Square Triangle paper from Triangles on a Roll. I love using these papers whenever I need to make a large number of Half Square Triangles because they help keep everything accurate and square. You simply sew directly on the printed lines, cut them apart, and end up with perfectly matched triangles and crisp points. They’re especially helpful for keeping repetitive piecing projects organized and consistent.

Spooled Quilt Along 🌈

I also shared progress on the Spooled Quilt Along that Fat Quarter Shop is currently running. I decided to make mine in a red and white colorway using fabrics from my stash, which is actually helping me finally use some of the red fabrics I rarely pull out. The first block, Ring Around the Rosie, came together really easily and gave me a good start on organizing my reds for the rest of the quilt along. I’m excited to see how all the blocks come together over the coming months.
