What’sIn The Box? April 2026
April 2026 Sew Sampler + Cherrywood Fabrics Reveal
There’s something magical about opening a quilting box—it’s like a little fabric treasure chest showing up at your door. In today’s What’s in the Box? we’re diving into the April 2026 Sew Sampler from Fat Quarter Shop along with my Cherrywood Fabric subscription.
From hand-dyed fabric goodness to brand-new quilt patterns and a fresh quilt-along, this box had some fun surprises—and of course, I’ll break down the value at the end so you can decide if it’s worth it!
Cherrywood Challenge Update
The Cherrywood Storytime Challenge quilts will be traveling over the next year and a half as part of a special exhibit divided into three collections: Fantasy, Fairytale, and Fable. My quilt has been placed in the Fable collection and is scheduled to appear at several major shows, including Road to Virginia 2026, AQS Grand Rapids 2027, AQS Paducah 2027, and AQS Waco 2027. I’ll be sharing updates along the way so you can see when it’s coming to a show near you!
Cherrywood Fabric Subscription – Nocturnal Nook Progress
This month’s Cherrywood Fabrics delivery brought a stunning two-yard piece of hand-dyed fabric—and the color variation is incredible. With greens, purples, and rust tones blending together in a tie-dye style, it’s the kind of fabric that adds instant depth to any project, especially for foundation paper piecing.
I’m continuing to collect these fabrics for Nocturnal Nook BOM by Pitcher’s Boutique, and this piece will fit beautifully into that moody, dimensional aesthetic. One of my favorite things about Cherrywood fabrics is that you never get a flat, predictable color—it’s always a surprise depending on how you cut it.
April 2026 Sew Sampler Box — “Summer Sunset”
Fabric: Honeysuckle Horizon Fabric Reveal
This month’s Sew Sampler featured Honeysuckle Horizon by Moda, and the palette instantly feels like golden hour in fabric form—warm peaches, soft greens, and breezy aquas.
The box included three charm packs, each filled with florals, honeycomb textures, and playful prints that lean slightly retro in the best way. These are the kinds of fabrics that practically design the quilt for you—the colors already do half the work.
Notions & Tools – What’s Useful?
This box included a mix of practical tools and organizational helpers. The AlphaBitties are something I personally use all the time—they make labeling fabric pieces and keeping projects organized so much easier, especially when working on complex or paper-pieced designs.
We also received a larger Stash ‘n Store organizer, which is perfect for keeping scissors, seam rippers, and marking tools within reach. It’s one of those items you don’t realize you need—until your sewing space suddenly feels way more organized.

- Stash ‘n Store — keep scissors, seam rippers, and marking tools close at hand

Patterns Included in the Box
This month’s patterns were a fun mix of fresh and classic designs. The Honeysuckle Quilt is a soft floral-inspired layout that pairs perfectly with the included charm packs, finishing at a cozy lap size.
In celebration of Sew Sampler’s 10th anniversary, we also received a bonus vault pattern from a previous box—bringing back a fan-favorite design. I always love when they revisit older patterns because it gives newer subscribers a chance to build their collection.
The new Spooled Quilt Along is a really fun addition to this month’s Sew Sampler box and something I always look forward to each year. This quilt along runs over the course of the year, releasing a new block each month that builds on the last, so you get to watch your quilt grow step by step. What I love about these is that you’re not locked into one fabric line—you can follow their kits or pull from your own stash like I’ve done in the past. It makes it feel a little more personal while still giving you that structured, guided project to work on throughout the year.

Final Thoughts
Overall, this month’s Sew Sampler felt like a really strong box. The value was there right away—the three charm packs alone came in at $37.44, which is already more than what I paid for the box. From there, everything else just adds on, making it feel like you’re getting a lot for your money.
I also liked the mix this month. The fabrics are beautiful and cohesive, the patterns are usable (and I love that they brought one back from the vault), and the notions are actually practical—especially the AlphaBitties and the larger Stash ‘n Store. That’s always a win for me when it’s something I know I’ll reach for regularly.
Between the new quilt along, the anniversary touches, and the overall value, this is definitely one of those boxes that reminds me why I’ve stayed subscribed for so long. If you enjoy trying new fabrics, building your pattern library, and getting a little surprise each month, this one absolutely delivered.
