Step 2 – Make the HST’s
Step 2 – Crafting Half Square Triangles (HSTs)
Let’s delve into the creative process of crafting Half Square Triangles (HSTs) for your exquisite quilt block. Begin by marking a diagonal line on the back of both A10 and A11 fabric pieces.
Once marked, arrange the A10 and A11 with the A4 pieces with the right sides together, aligning them thoughtfully. To secure their position, stitch a seam exactly 1/4″ away from the marked line on both sides of the line.
With the stitching complete, carefully cut along the marked diagonal line. Following this, gently press the newly created HSTs towards the A4 piece. For a visual guide on the ironing process and precise placement, refer to the accompanying diagrams below.

Step 3 – Make the Strip Section
Let’s move forward with assembling the strip section of your quilt block. Combine the D12, D7, and D8 fabric pieces to create this visually appealing segment. Follow the illustration below to ensure accurate placement and alignment of the pieces.

Step 4 – Make the 9 Patch
Get ready to add another layer of charm to your quilt block by creating the 9-patch section. Follow these steps to ensure your 9-patch comes together seamlessly:
- Layout the 9 Patches: Arrange the 9-patch units according to the illustration provided below. You’ll notice that there are two distinct colorway 9-patches. Each colorway consists of two sections.
- Sewing and Ironing: Begin by stitching the pieces of each 9-patch unit together, aligning them accurately. Once the stitching is complete, press the seams as indicated in the accompanying diagrams below.

Step 5 – Assemble the Block
The moment has arrived to bring all your diligently crafted sections and patches together to create a harmonious whole. Follow these final steps to assemble your block:
- Alignment: Gather all the sections and patches you’ve meticulously prepared. Align them precisely according to the diagram provided below.
- Ironing: With your sections and patches aligned, take a moment to admire your progress. Then, following the direction of the arrows in the diagram, carefully press the seams to create a polished and cohesive look for your block.
As you complete this step, you’re putting the finishing touches on your quilt block masterpiece.
