Birds of a Feather Mystery Quilt Along
I am creating this Mystery Quilt along because I am part of the Fat Quarter Shop Solids of the Month Club. FQS has made a change to the Solid of the Month club for 2023 and that is that the curation of the FQ’s for each month are exclusive only to the members of the club! This means that when I open my mail and show you what I got for the club I can’t provide a link to that particular bundle.
The FQS Solid of the Month theme for 2023 is Birds of North America, so each month will have a bird representing the colors that they will send to us. I would love to have you join me in making this sampler quilt utilizing the Solids of the Month. I am going to be releasing a bird named or themed block each month during 2023 to use with the fabrics that I receive.
The quilt we are going to build will have 12 – 12″ finished blocks with 2″ sashing in between each block. The finished quilt will be 44″ x 58″. The background fabric I will be using in my quilt is and Essex Linen in Chantilly Off White.
My plan is to release the block on the 4th Thursday of each month because this should give Fat Quarter Shop plenty of time to get the fabrics to us.
Sign up for the FQS Solid of the Month Club here and join me in making this beautifully bird themed quilt, or just use your own scraps and meet me every 4th Thursday and get a bird themed block!
Below is the order of the bird colors that will be released each month for the fat quarters.
- January – Blue Jay
- February – Hummingbird
- March – Goldfinch
- April – Green Parakeet
- May – Chickadee
- June – Flamingo
- July – Oriole
- August – Grackle
- September – Indigo Bunting
- October – Purple Martin
- November – Barn Owl
- December – Cardinal

Calendar Quilts
This is going to be 12 months of Fun and Fusible projects! My Mom brought me this pattern and I thought it would be fun to put together with you throughout the year. There are 12 monthly themed applique quilts to do and have to hang on your wall and change out each month.
My plan is to use my own fabrics to make each of these, so grab your fabrics and scraps and join me!

STATE Quilt Blocks
I am going to continue my State Block Quilt journey where I recreate the State Block submissions from the early 1900’s to Hearth and Home Magazine. I found that in 2023, each State has their how National Day! For the first half of the year it is on every Wednesday, and in the second half of the year it is on every Thursday.
I will be recreating each state of their National Day and if I have already done the State block, I will either reminisce about making it or maybe even make it again!
Make sure you check my calendar for each month to see which State Blocks will be coming up!

Atomic Starburst
Atomic Starburst Quilt – I am going to be doing the Atomic Starburst Quilt from Annie’s Craft Store. We won’t be starting this until April and I will be doing a tutorial about this quilt pattern and if you want to join me, you can find the pattern here – Atomic Starburst Quilt. I am going to be doing my quilt in Christmas Fabrics with a white background and Cori in California is going to be doing hers in Tula Pink with a black background. So you will get to see two very different colorways of this quilt.

Tula Pink Queen of Diamonds EPP
This one will be really challenging for me because I have never done and EPP and I don’t like hand work, but.. I want to expand my quilting knowledge and skills. From May 2023 to January 2024, hand stitch these dazzling blocks designed by Pink Door Fabrics filled with fabric from Tula’s greatest hits. The Queen of Diamonds Block of the Month program includes block patterns and 31 yards total of 91 different fabrics from Everglow, Moon Garden, Daydreamer, Tiny Beasts, Curiouser & Curiouser, True Colors and Designer Essentials Solids to complete the 60″ x 73.5″ quilt top and binding.
If you want to follow along with me and we can learn together, check out the kit below.
